There is one true antidote to help ensure that our elections properly function: citizen-led oversight of elections processes.
The Watch the Vote 2008 Program, co-sponsored with the NAACP National Voter Fund, and in collaboration with Video the Vote and the University of Pennsylvania, is a non-partisan comprehensive election monitoring and election protection effort for the November 2008 election. Voter Action is monitoring an InfoVoter Technologies election database, fed by data from the toll free Tom Joyner hotline, 1-866-MY-VOTE-1 (1-866-698-6831) and the national CNN election hotline, 1-877-GO-CNN-08 (1-877-462-6608). Each hotline allows voters to record voice complaints or find their polls locations. Voter Action is monitoring both these hotlines which gives us a large snapshot of election problems in the country. The data we collect and review informs important actions that help protect your vote.
