An Indiana law requiring voters to show identification, declared constitutional by the United States Supreme Court just last year, was struck down Thursday by a state appellate court.

The state court said the law violated the Indiana Constitution by not treating all voters equally.

A Fishers election worker claims the results of November's general election may not be correct and will take her concerns to the Hamilton County Election Board on Friday.

The issue will be discussed on the same day Noblesville school district residents will use the same voting machines to decide a ballot question on whether to spend $59.5 million on building projects.

A Marion County judge ordered Friday that absentee ballots challenged at the polls on Election Day be set aside for review by bipartisan teams later in the week.

County Republicans said the ruling, issued in response to their lawsuit, is likely to end up affecting few ballots and would follow a process in place in Marion County under the previous clerk.
But it means that any ballots facing challenges won't be counted Tuesday or show up in election results that night.

A Terre Haute man says he is being discriminated against at satellite voting locations because of a disability, and according to federal disability law, he may be right.

TERRE HAUTE — A Terre Haute man says he is being discriminated against at satellite voting locations because of a disability, and according to federal disability law, he may be right.

Steve Tschida, 50, is blind, and needs assistance to vote. State law allows a voter with disabilities to designate a person to assist the voter in voting at an election. The law states that it applies to each precinct location as well as to absentee voting, but the law is not clear as to whether the law applies to satellite voting locations.
